Stillness

 Stillness


The waters on the lake, lay quiet and still,

As if under a spell and didn’t want to spill.

The secrets it held beneath the treasures stowed,

Buried deep inside where the fishes flowed.


On the surface it looked so crystal clear,

Like a mirror you gaze with a image near.

Not even a movement, not even a ripple, 

Even a gentle touch refused to solve the riddle.


The calmness it showed, sealed the vastness deep,

Like a world full of life, it held within its sweep.

The varied life forms filled it to the brink,

It’s not a surprise, the smile it could not bring.


The quiet that emerges when the pace is slow,

Silence that takes over, which fully shows.

Restlessness engulfs when the climb is steep,

It’s stillness that connects to mysteries deep!

The Journey

There is no space or time that you cannot visit,

You materialise in a moment without a transit.

 

A kaleidoscope of opportunities welcomes you,

Each with an opening of its own that greets you,

You enter the door and each leads to another,

An endless web of possibilities awaits you.

 

A myriad of colours unseen,

Like a maze of mirrors in each scene.

You can go back or forward or sideways,

And see the past, future or the parallel self.

 

If you wish to explore the self in other space,

A worm hole in black and white will do the grace.

A tear in time and space is what you need to find,

Like a portal that you enter and do not mind.

 

A world within a world where a piece of you,

Exists in all planes, times and colours new.

If you wish to explore the mysteries of the other world,

Close your eyes and journey into the inner world.

 Meditation – 3

The moment you close your eyes and focus on the breath,

Thoughts go down and the mind begins to clear up,

Energies start flowing in and fills you up,

Like a dam that gets filled and can no longer hold up,

Vibrations increase and the frequency goes up,

The bodies start aligning and synchronicities show up,

Manifestation happens with ease and life lightens up,

Just as a flower blooms and the bees line up,

The magnet becomes powerful and possibilities open up,

As you continue meditating without giving up,

Newer doorways appear and the path clears up,

Like a butterfly that emerges and flies up,

A new world you will reach as you move up,

Where thoughts talk and words you don’t even bring up,

Dreams get fulfilled even before you speak up,

People are happy for no reason and joy fills you up,

Where you connect with your higher self and float up,

You receive all the guidance as they signal you up,

Life has a new meaning and the passion comes up,

You have found your purpose and everything cheers up,

Just by focussing on your breath, you tune up,

To the inner journey that completely wakes you up!

Writing

 Writing


Writing is fun,

As you get to run,

And remove all the knots.

You arrange them in a line,

Clear and make them fine.

You then throw them in the ring,

For them to circle n make them sing.

When they are ready to be out,

You add some twist and roundabout.

Finally, when you let it out of the cage,

You empty the mind, and disengage!

Meditation is not what you think,

Do it now, before the time is due.

A rock in the stream

 

A rock in the stream

A white little rock lays in a stream,
round and smooth, cold in a dream.
The water flows upon it, beneath it, 
the rock lays shining underneath.

It does not resist the flow in anyway,
allows the water to go around in many ways.
It does not get carried away by it either,
sits neat and firm as it goes deeper.

Allows the water to turn and twist,
Observes the flow as it exists.
Just be a witness to the flow,
Do not resist nor align with the show.

Grace

 Grace

The stage is lit and the troupe enters,

In a nice formation right in the center.

In unison they dance, completely in sync,

All their beats match, without even a blink.


Years of practise shows in their steps,

As they perform with ease to a chorus complex.

The movements blend and coordinated well,

the synergies swell and casts a spell.


This moment when the energies align,

The lines blur and a geometry designs.

Every cell beats in coherence beautiful,

Grace flows and the dance is graceful!

Audience tight,

Eyes glued.


Music plays,

Minds dissolve,

Dance remains,

Being Empty

Being Empty


Like an empty cup, anything that can hold,

The clay sits in a lump for the potter to behold.

Fill the cup with water, with a drink, with anything,

the clay is ready to take any form as it enters the ring.


The cup that gets filled has less space for the new,

The clay that gets burnt, as no scope for anew.

Like the rain that washes away the crumbs, 

The potter removes all the excess lumps.


Let the potter weave his hands and spin the wheel,

the clay turns around and becomes a cup as it reels. 

It is the unformed, the unstructured, the undefined,

That in any moment has the power to be formed.


The cup that is filled cannot be used,

The clay that is not malleable cannot be fused.

It is the unmanifest that can shape into plenty,

like the beauty of the mind lies in being empty!

And brings the energy to a full stop?

It’s the statement, the conclusion,

That creates the unnecessary illusion.


Always flip the statement around,

And add a question to mark the round.

The what, the why, the how, the where, 

Treat them like a Solitaire.


The final quiz that we need to pass,

The ultimate question that we need to surpass,

Who am I, when we ask,

The doors open up as we unmask!

The colours

What is Red and keeps you grounded,

Something that is in the root n keeps you landed.

What is Orange and lets you feel,

Something that creates from your inner wheel, 

What is yellow and lets you do,

That is a seat of power and makes you powerful.

What is Green and helps you love, 

Right in the center, filled with kindness n compassion.

What is Blue and helps you talk, 

That completely expresses as you walk.

What is Indigo and lets you see, 

An inner vision that sets you free.

What is Violet and lets you understand, 

Your higher purpose and opens you up to the divine.

The subjects

Life is a mystery,

When we let go of the history,

We are able to see the art,

Beautifully painted by the literature,

A song sung by the philosophy,

That unfolds the drama of humanities,

Which cannot be explained by the language,

For it transcends all known geographies,

And dives deep into the psychology,

Which goes far from the economics,

cannot be related to physics,

As it creates an intoxicating chemistry,

And changes the structure of biology,

A formula that slowly is revealed by math,

Which can be copy pasted using computers,

And applied equally to all of the subjects,

In a school that any child chooses.

The Fire

 




The mountain

The mountain stands so tall and majestic,

and never gets bogged down by petty things.

The sun, the rain, the clouds, the wind,

move around it as it remains unfazed.


It keeps its sight above and reaches out,

to the unknown, far from where it stands.

Yearning for those moments as it is heard,

The only thing for it to even stand and breath.


The woods, the trees, the grass, the green,

do not even matter to it as it seems.

The occasional trekker who summits it,

nor the thunder from above that bothers it.


It is only waiting for a whisper of that voice,

which it has heard from where no one has been.

It is a glimpse of that ecstasy that it has seen,

for which it is ready to stand tall n alone for years to be!

Food for the Physical body

It’s Sunday morning and you decide to do a long nice meditation which you have been waiting for the entire week. Finally, you decide to sit down and close your eyes and start enjoying the meditation. You are able to bring your awareness on the breath and be in the moment and you are happy. Suddenly, one of your family member comes in and shakes you up and wants to know what do you want to eat for breakfast. You feel disturbed and get distracted. Since it is your own family member, you somehow manage your emotions and answer something and again close your eyes and go back to meditation. You take some time to come out of these disturbed thoughts and focus on your breath again, and start enjoying the meditation. Now a child comes in and wants to know where are the story books and which one to read. You again get disturbed and unable to enjoy the blissful state of meditation. Imagine this happening time and again, every time you meditate. Your entire goal of meditation is lost.

Now imagine, your physical body is so happy and doing its job so wonderfully without wasting a moment and always ensuring each and every cell and organ inside of the body is doing its job, healing, repairing, rejuvenating and keeping it healthy and ensuring its well-being. Now imagine someone comes and offers you a piece of cake as it is their birthday. It’s a joyous occasion, so you take a small piece and eat it. After sometime, it is coffee time and everyone sits around and asks you to join them. You decide to join too and take a cup of coffee and a small snack. It’s now dinner time and the entire family sits together. You are not hungry any more. Since it is the last meal of the day and there is something tasty you decide to eat anyway. 

Every time you eat, the body has to stop working on what it is doing and divert all its attention and energy into the process of digesting the food. Right from the salivary glands to the acids in the stomach, all of them have to start functioning irrespective of whether you eat one bite of snack or a full meal. The process and the series of steps involved remains the same. The body which loves to heal and keep you healthy stops its work and attends to something else which is not top priority at the moment. Imagine this happening non-stop 365 days in a year. Healing is meditation for the body and every time you bring it out of its meditation and make it do something else which is not top priority, the body gets distracted and disturbed. 

Our body is the most marvellous machine that has ever been designed with so many organs working together non-stop tirelessly from birth till death. The heart, the lungs, the liver, right from the time we are born till we die, without skipping a beat, without stopping a moment for rest, keep doing their job. The body is also the most intelligent machine ever found with its own intelligence system always guiding us. It also communicates to us every moment, if we know how to listen to it. Every cell in our body is capable of tapping into the higher intelligence and giving us any information, we ever need. What it wants to eat, how it wants to move, what does it want to wear, who needs your attention and energy this particular day etc. It relays this information more like an awareness which is very gentle. It is more of a feeling. Anything that makes you feel light and expansive is always right. Anything that makes you feel heavy and constricted is not right. 

Even the food we eat, the body exactly knows when it wants to eat and what nutrients it requires for its well-being and you feel like eating a particular food which supplies those nutrients. Many a times just a few bites of food, consciously eaten with full awareness and presence is enough. We normally over eat and override our bodies awareness with our own mind. We also get influenced by others or pick up thoughts from others around us and make it our own and eat for other bodies too. That’s why it is said food is not a social activity. Food is a time to connect with our own body. 

97% of the energy we get from eating food is used to digest the food we eat. The more food we consume, the more energy is needed to digest and assimilate it. Any food that we eat, even if it is the simplest of the food available, will taste as if it was the best ever eaten and that’s when you know that your body is really happy with it and benefits from it. When the food doesn’t taste great, then we know that the body doesn’t want that food. It doesn’t have the energy or the nutrients that the body requires and even if you consume it, doesn’t add any value. 

Also, it is always good to eat only how much ever the body wants and as soon as it is enough you feel like stopping. The body gives you an awareness. That’s the time to stop and not allow the mind to continue eating. It is always better to eat when there is keen hunger in the body and not in the mind irrespective of what time it is. Never eat when you do not experience keen hunger. Many a times, it is the space or emptiness that the body experiences which we confuse for hunger. Or looking at the clock, the mind sends you a message to eat. It’s ok, to not follow the meal timings if possible and go by when the body wants to eat. Hunger is a communication from the body that it is now ready to eat and that’s when you eat. Also, its ok to save up that piece of cake or whatever you wanted to eat in between and eat along with the meals so that the body can process it together. 

We all have heard time and again, not to waste food. However, I personally feel, it is better to waste the food outside of the body and not inside of the body. It is ok to stop when you feel full or not feel like eating anymore and not force yourself against the body’s wishes. Of course, it means that we need to be very careful on how much we take on our plate and always take smaller quantities and refill them. 

Most of the times its always better to keep the food on plate as simple as possible limiting it to one variety of grain, one or two types of vegetables and Dal and eat as much as you want. This way it is easier for the body to properly digest the food we eat by producing only those kind of stomach acids that is required to digest that particular food and not mix up too many chemicals inside. You can always eat different varieties of vegetables or grains each day to keep it balanced. Never complicate your plate. Keep it simple.

The body should feel so happy and energetic after a full meal and not lethargic and that’s when you know you have eaten it right. There are days when I personally feel like dancing after a full meal and I know I have eaten it right and my body is happy. 

Also, sometimes when eating out, the entire spread in the buffet doesn’t mean that you need to taste or eat all of that food that is spread out there. It’s just an option available so that every body can choose what they want to eat. I normally take a plate and go in front of the food and allow the body to choose what it wants to eat and only take that on my plate. If not sure, just eating a bite or maximum 3 bites, we know if that food is required or not. 

The body is designed to move. Movement is what the body loves to do. Doesn’t matter what form. Whether it is dance, or some physical activity or just walking or anything else that you love doing. See what makes you happy and you can accordingly incorporate it and also keep varying it and choosing different activities too based on the energies on that particular day. Again, it is always better to check with our bodies and not decide ourselves on what and how much to do. I have seen people who overdo it too, especially in the gyms or when running long distance etc., It is sometimes over exerted against one’s own bodies needs. 

Maintaining the right posture and stretching, also helps all the parts of the body have enough space to function at ease. Just imagine a overcrowded space in a shopping mall or a public transport where there is no space and you feel so suffocated and unable to even sit or stand comfortably, forget about moving around. Are you happy with it? If not how do the different parts of the body feel when they do not get enough space to function with ease. In addition to not giving it enough space internally, we also many a times avoid occupying space externally too and constricting our own energies. Space is what the body requires for all of the internal organs to function optimally. Give it as much as it wants. 

Normally, the body communicates in very light feelings initially and draws your attention there. When we do not listen to it, it slowly starts screaming louder and louder in the form of pain and then illness, till it gets your complete attention and you can no longer ignore it. When we heed to it and pay attention and listen to it in the initial stages itself, then the pain and disease doesn’t appear. Absence of ease in body is disease. All illness and health related issues can be avoided if we pay attention to every little signal it sends. We need to make our bodies as our best friends and take care of it as if our entire lives depend on it, for it does. We are dependent on it in this reality and not the other way. 

The body is designed to be used and not abused. It’s violence against our own self. Just imagine the kind of abuse or over use we have been doing and in spite of it, the body continues to do its work diligently day in day out. 

This is where meditation can help fine tune that communication channel with our bodies and help us to listen to it more attentively and enjoy our health and well-being. Just like the way we like to enjoy our long Sunday meditation, lets also allow our body to go back to its own form of meditation and not disturb it unnecessarily. It knows when it wants our attention and that’s when we attend to it.

What happens in Meditation?

There was once a rich girl who had a nice big house with a huge indoor garden right in the middle of the house with an open space for sunlight to enter. The open space let the butterflies, the bees and the birds to come in and adorn the flowers and make it even more beautiful. 

The open space also allowed the mosquitoes and the rodents to enter the garden and the house and spoil the beauty of it. The girl decided to invest in a huge net around the garden to keep the rodents away from entering the house. The same net that was supposed to keep the rodents away, kept the butterflies and the bees and birds away. However, interestingly, the rodents still continued to dig in through the ground and entered the garden and spoiled it. Without the bees and the butterflies, the garden lost its look and the charm.

This is exactly what happens with our rich minds which is like a beautiful garden, completely under our control, right in the middle of our own being. Just in order to keep the unnecessary thoughts and judgements away, we put up energetic barriers around our own selves, thinking this will protect us from getting hurt and keeps us safe and comfortable. Every time, someone says something, our barriers immediately go up. Every time we have a judgement about us or others, the barriers go up. 

The same energetic barriers that we have put around us to protect us from getting hurt, is also keeping away the abundance from flowing into us. The abundant universe is always waiting to gift everything we ever ask for and even more happily. However, the barriers keep us stuck within our own comfort zone and our beliefs limit us from manifesting our own desires. 

Just imagine, the kind of huge energetic barriers we have built around us knowingly or unknowingly. Not just our thoughts, just imagine, every judgement, expectation, projection, rejection, separation, conclusion, computation that we have about us or others and others have about us or themselves, that we have picked up and made it our own and put up a barrier against them. It is huge, layers and layers of barriers and all inter related which could easily take several life times to dissolve it.

Now imagine by bringing your awareness on your breath and meditating, in that very moment, you are emptying the mind and reducing the thoughts and by doing so the barriers start coming down or start falling apart and dissolving on its own. As we continue to mediate consistently, the energies holding the barriers together starts falling apart and every limiting belief removed starts bringing down the other beliefs and barriers like a huge deck of cards falling apart when one card is removed. 

As the barriers start falling apart, the abundance which was always waiting there to enter the garden, will start flowing in all areas of our life and not just benefit us, and also everyone inside the house, just like when the butterflies return to the garden and the flowers start blooming, everyone in the house gets to enjoy the beauty and the fragrance and the colours.
